Phantasy Star Online

PSO Online Setup Guide

This guide will get you online with Phantasy Star online version 1 or 2 by following these steps.

Step 1.
First, you need a copy of Phantasy Star Online version 1 or 2. Make sure its the (PAL) European version, or Japanese NTSC if you can read Japanese. You can pick up a copy of one of these on ebay.com While your waiting for your copy to arrive, check out the next steps.

Step 2.
Second, make sure you have an ISP for your Dreamcast. If you need one go here. If you dont have a Planetweb Browser to setup the isp (Internet Service Provider),you can use Quake III Arena to do that. If you dont have some way of doing so, you can download the new XDP Web Broswer here. After your done setting up the isp, test it to make sure it works. If you have any problems setting up the isp email me or post on the Forum.

Step 3.
Third, You need to get a boot up disc to be able to play the European or Japanese version of Phantasy Star Online on your Dreamcast. Unless you have a European or Japanese version of Dreamcast. If you already have a boot up disc, then your in luck, if you dont then visit this Tutorial page on how to make a Utopia Boot Disc. After your done making that, pop it in your Dreamcast and see if the Utopia Screen comes up, with the reindeer. If it does then all you have to do now is wait for your copy of PSO to arrrive.

Step 4.
Fourth, when your copy of PSO arrives in the mail, put in the Utopia boot Disc. When the reindeer screen comes up, open the Dreamcast lid, take out the boot disc and put in PSO. Create your Character, etc. the regular pso stuff. It will prompt you to input your serial number and access key, do that. Go online, if it says to go back and input your serial number and access key again, then that means you got a used copy of PSO and you need to get new codes from Sega of Europe. Not all copys of pso will need new codes. Most used ones will, although the user may not have gone online, so then the codes will be un-used and not need new ones. Go to www.segahelp.com, register an account, then kindly ask them for a new serial number and access key. Make sure to specify which version of PSO you have. They should e-mail you back within a few days with the new ones. Once you get online, your ready to start playing, having fun, and exploring the vast online world of PSO.

Step 5.
Fifth, visit the Dreamcast-Talk Forum and post that your online with PSO. Give your PSO name and maybe say when you'll be online or schedule a game to play with others. You can find me online as Shane, HUcast or Shane, FOnewm.
