They can still participate but they'll just have a slight disadvantage using the Easy boats.

For those who want to unlock the Medium boats:

Unlock Everything
Start a new game and race one of the Beginner tracks. You must place well enough to enter your initials in to the high score listing. Enter:

?PB

You will unlock every track and every boat.

I don't think the boat really matters to be honest, sure you can get faster with the hidden ones but they are much harder to control. Anyway here are my results from this morning, A strange turn of events towards the end but bear with me:

my first good attempt:
Image

Note from the screen below that if you set a best time it becomes highlighted on the list after you enter your innitials. PLEASE also note my best time at the time of taking this shot, 1.39:35

Image

Now check out this next pic I took... v strange

Image

Not sure why but the score didn't show up on that screen, anyway please see the resulting screen below that came after i entered my innitials:

Image

so perhaps that is a bug that when you beat your best it doesn't show it properly on the winning screen until the next time you compete? Who knows, anyway thats now my best time 1.39:32, Hopefully you can see that I did beat my best this morning, which I HONESTLY didn't think would ever be possible!

Also, I happen to agree that the position you finish in is irrelevant as it doesn't change how good your time is, and also I find a lot of the time no matter how fast I finish the other boats seem able to keep up anyway!! Possibly Midway felt they had to be able to keep up or there'd be no challenge maybe?

its just not logical that sometimes you can finish first in say 1.55 & the next time you're 2nd or 3rd in 1.48. thats 7 seconds, the difference is just too big, specially with the retarded AI of this game LOL

Well, I have no clue how I did it but here's my new score:

Image

It was really weird. Towards the end of the race (maybe halfway through the lap) I seemed to get unlimited boost. :?:

Edit:

Apparently it's a glitch:

Since that's the case I won't be counting it. And here I was thinking I mastered Hydro Thunder... :(

yeah thats happened to me before and its happened really early on giving me ridiculous scores etc but I never count them, its nice when your playing against the computer trying to win and suddenly you realise your boost hasn't ran out!!
