Re: Alien Front Online Server: Work in Progress
I'm pretty sure, that once we have AFO back online combined with a DreamPi solution that works without a 9V line voltage inducer, we will definitely see a raise of online players.

I use an external serial modem that requires a 12v power cable and a serial to usb adapter. It provides the line voltage and works for dreampi without a lvi. Though bigger and more expensive than those cheap usb modems, its much more user friendly. I have not tested with a pal modem and doubt it would work

Hope this game gets back online soon like in a month or two, I'm excited to try out a new game I never played before and see how that real time chat feature works and if it works

Re: Alien Front Online Server: Work in Progress
That's cool. I actually messaged ReviewTechUSA (one of the only gaming channels I follow) and suggested he do a video on AFO. It coming back online could be pretty big gaming news in general and probably spark the interest of many people who didn't really know all this exists
If it actually made mainstream gaming news there'd probably be a large wave of new people. It'd be incredible if we saw full servers all the time
Thats awesome DR TEAMCAST, and that will definitely spark the interest.
The server is unfortunately not bug-free yet and does not work as the originals on some aspects so Im working on it again tonight and this weekend probably. Sorry for keeping you guys waiting, but stuff like this takes alot of time and effort to complete alone.

Any update on this? Have you found anyone who has the knowledge to assist you? What kinda bugs are you running into. Best of luck to you!

Re: Alien Front Online Server: Work in Progress
The issues remaining are not about (the lack of) knowledge, its about free time to fix them.
The servers are in testing, and once we get to finish a complete game without bugs, servers will be opened to the public - as said from the beginning.
I am fully aware this is a very delayed release, but better late than never, right?
Also this is not the only game in which the servers *MAY* support, so hold your horses before you jump to conclusions about knowledge for coding new game servers - as I said from the beginning, the servers will NOT be opened until pretty much all of the bugs are gone.
There *MAY* also be added functionality in a game build "someone" found while digging through some old stuff.
Best regards
Petter K.
