"If" you can get rid of the wi-fi dongle and use a wired connection, it might work for you...if you can! If this works, TacT gets the credit.

Connect 1200 is not great lol.
Depends on chip ur modem use it can not to understand some of the ATA commands the script tries to send to the modem. I can see on ur picture ur modem cant understand this part AT+VSM=1,8000.
This makes dial tone play but ur modem cant play it. Yes getting USB dell modem will work 100%
From love, with Russia :)

I have other usb modems like dell one, working fine, just trying this external modem for fun to be honest

Thank you Striker, I'm going to change the part AT+VSM=1,8000, it is about bit rate unsigned PCM

Also, maybe the external modem cant receive another reset comand after dial tone.

I realize I'm replying to an old post here, but your issue is that your modem isn't a voice modem, so the trick that Kazade uses to trick the Dreamcast into thinking there is a real phone line doesn't work. I'm currently working on a pull request to enable the DreamPi code to detect your modem properly and fall back to "blind answer" mode if you don't have a voice modem. I've also made the baud rate between DreamPi and your modem/serial port autodetected, so the fix of changing the baud rate isn't needed.

I'm currently testing it out over here before I spend any of Kazade's time reviewing the PR. If you've still got this modem, I'd love to see how well it works with my branch. PM me if you're interested in helping me test this out :).

@ZiggyTheHamster I'm currently working on an update to the DreamPi firmware. I'm interested in any info you have about detecting the serial baud rate..
