The Official AOU 2012 Countdown Thread.

All going to plan, in 10 days time we shall see the debut of the arcade variant of Sega's next generation console currently known as Orbi.

AOU 2012
Makuhari Messe, Chiba-City – Japan
17th Feb 2012 – 18th Feb 2012

As you shall all remember the board was set for reveal at JAMMA 2011 in September, however, there was a last minute change of plans.

Will we finally see it at AOU?

I wonder if this countdown shall end up like your previous countdown.
You know, the one where 1 hour lasted around 6 hours and where pornostar100's "announcement" did nothing but make me roflmao.

YAWN! Yet more empty promises from Dan "full of" Kuso.

I think the only thing "we finally see" during the AOU show is Dan getting pwned again by ArcadeHeroes.com.

As for new Sega arcade hardware, IF Sega chooses to reveal a new arcade system at this show then it will likely be yet another PC based system like RingEdge/Wide and Lindburgh were.

Why can't you provide any links that would confirm your statement ? Should we look for them by ourselves ? Okay.
Here's what I got
http://www.intergameonline.com/events/103/aou-2012
and
http://www.aou.or.jp/
where everything is in freaking japanese.
And yeah, only one more-less credible source - Andriasang
http://andriasang.com/comzt9/konami_aou_2012/

So, seems like that AOU is arcade/amusement expo. Great.
What else ?
Oh

and

What’s coming to AOU2012 (Part 1)

What’s coming to AOU2012 (Part 1)

Newsfeed 1162 & 1163 via The Stinger Report

If you didn’t get a fill from the EAG show last week then never fear, another arcade trade show is just around the corner, this time in Japan. The Amusement Operators Union or AOU, takes place every February and often has some surprises in store for some of the latest stuff that will be making it’s way to arcades in Asia, and on occasion content that will be landing overseas.

As nearly every day from now until the show takes place in two weeks there are updates as to what will be there, I will label this as part 1.

So far not much has been unveiled and often manufacturers will save certain games as surprises for the show itself. But Konami has provided a decent line-up of what to expect including:

DanceEvolution Arcade

Steel Chronicle

Jubeat Copious

And a few other Medal games. We’ve covered each of these aforementioned titles and from the three I could see DanceEvolution Arcade making it’s way out West. Seeing how DDRX3 doesn’t seem to be getting love here so far, this could logically end up being Konami’s arcade replacement for it. I know that would cause gnashing off teeth to even suggest it but it’s just a hunch on my end. I don’t know the sales numbers in the US or Europe on DDRX or DDRX2 but between that and Pump It Up I have wondered how many $10k dance pad games the market can support that come out on an annual basis. At the very least, DanceEvolution will offer a change of pace and can stand out and no more worries about failing pads from the stomping that goes on.

Also to note, AndriaSang is saying that Konami is suggesting that this is the first arcade game to use Kinect ever. That is mostly true – let’s not forget the Game Gate Let’s Kinect, although that was a coin-op interface for using Kinect games made for the Xbox 360 and not specific arcade games. So in the sense that this is something made as arcade software and not an Xbox 360 Kinect exclusive, Konami is right.

Naturally I would love to see Steel Chronicle or something like it come along out West but the chances of that are about as likely as Sega releasing the Dreamcast 2 anytime soon.

UPDATE: Here’s a video of the DanceEvolution Arcade Location test in Korea, which link I found from Yerdito on Twitter.

Sega has also given a little information on what they will bring along:

MaiMai

Under Night In-Birth

Shining Force Cross Elysium

Latest version of Border Break

MaiMai is Sega’s latest touch music game with a unique design but Sega has not seemed very keen on bringing those types of games out West so I wouldn’t count on it outside of imports. The same goes for the rest of their video line-up so far. Under Night In-Birth is a RingEdge-powered fighting game that at first glance makes me think of BlazBlue, although I’m sure it has it’s differences. Both Border Break and Shining Force Cross have been well received in Japan and like Steel Chronicle, there is a very, very small chance we would see them outside of Japan (they aren’t the kinds of games that get imported elsewhere too often either).

Mephiles,stu/Mulberry. You ignored that qoute on purpose didn't you?

Yes you did, for the purpose of being jackasses about speculation.

Dan Kuso is speculating on whether or not SEGA will announce the RINGWAVE at AOU soon. They were suppossed to at JAMMA last September:

Qoute from The StringerReport:

"think that its best to set some things straight before JAMMA – and it would be good for me to reply once – rather than attempt to answer all the individual questions.
-SEGA’s New Systems? – The proposed launch seems to have changed since our source revealed it – not sure if this linked to the rumors of the TGS media event – or if this is just cause of the problems of managing expectations?
-How did you know it was a RINGWIDE game? – We were officially told by SEGA to correct our reporting – we have direct links to SAE and SAJ. I know that the consumer game media have had no luck getting information from the amusement divisions – this is because they are very sensitive and try only to work with those in the amusement trade.
-Why is JAMMA so small? – It is what it is in the post Quake and Downturn environment in Japan. The restrictions on power usage have hit the TGS as well as the AM-Show – there is also the issue of the changes in the Japanese market with self operation (factories now operating more and more).
-Are you still writing for EDGE? – Yes – I supply a small arcade report on new releases each month – the next one will be on TouchFX – though we have the new SEGA arcade release scheduled soon. This is the only arcade coverage in the main-stream media so is important though I know some are dismissive.
Hope this helps."

@Trufis. CardGen is an RINGEDGE arcade card game that was test run in 2010. It has been a modest success.

Hey Dan, I've studied the "Orbi" trademark further and think its definetly possible that its a new investment multimedia and multi industrial firm by SEGASammy. It's likely, SEGA may delay RINGWAVE's debut into JAMMA.

We don't know yet. So let's wait and see.
