Is it possbile to replace "171-7962A-X1" PSU with 171-7874A in the dreamcast US version?

Post by bshi02 »

Hello.
I just have purchased dreamcast US version which is out of order.
Seller said that he mistakely connected it to 220v oulet and It works for about 5 minutes and since then it is not able to turn on.
I disassembled it and found that it has "171-7962A-X1" PSU and there is some residue around L51 IC and the biggest capacitor is bulged
like below attachment.
I heard that If dreamcast is out of order by connecting to 220v outlet it would be possible to fix it by replacing fuse and biggest capacitor with normal one,But in my case,It seems to replace L51 IC which seems to be a coil as well as fuse and capacitor, But there is no infomation about this coil on the net.
So I think that It would be possible to replace 171-7962A-X1" PSU with 171-7874A PSU which is came from japanese VA1 dreamcast.
But it seems that US version dreamcast has 171-7965E-X3 mainboard and Jap verison dreamcast has 171-7965E mainboard.
and Crucially, 22Watt is written on the bottom case of jap version and 27watt is written on the bottom case of US version.
Is it possbile to replace "171-7962A-X1" PSU with 171-7874A in the dreamcast US version?
Any reply would be appreciated.
