Dreamcast Will Not Connect to TV

I recently bought one of these on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Retro-Bit-V ... SwjL5ZFizK

It is for my Emerson LC320EM2A, which supports VGA but when I connect, it says the video format is not supported. HELP!!!!!!

Also, I checked on another TV in my house and the cable did work on it, so the cable is not the problem. In the TV manual, it says that the TV supports 640x480 at 60hz, but isn't that what the Dreamcast is at?

Some TV's simply do not work with the Dreamcast VGA output. There's a list of them somewhere on this site. Your best bet is to buy an Akura HDMI box for your dreamcast https://www.beharbros.com/

The Akura is going to suffer the same issue (possibly even worse) as it outputs straight 640x480 over HDMI with no upscaling. It would be best to grab a VGA-to-HDMI upscaler for use with the VGA cable. This will get around the issue with incompatible TVs.

That one actually doesn't upscale the image despite what it says. You want one like this. Usually you can tell of it's an upscaler by looking for a switch that changes between 720p and 1080p.

I can't tell you if this will work for your TV, but I had basically the same issue with that cable when trying to plug into my Samsung TVs VGA port. I discovered that connecting a regular computer monitor VGA cable to that DC/VGA cable via a female-female adapter plug would cause the TV to display the image. That DC/VGA cable itself had bad color bleed on my TV anyway, so I got rid of it in the end. But, if you have a cable and an adapter laying around, it's worth a shot to see if it might work better for you before you buy more stuff.

Here, with the same cable, is my NTSC HDTV break-down...and what was the fix for the "Not Compatible:

Compatible (and oldest):
1. Sanyo DP26649 26" HDTV
2. Venturer PLV76198 19" HDTV

Compatible but with offsetting image/aspect ratio issues:
1. Haier HL22FB1 22" HDTV
2. HiSense F40V87US30 40" HDTV

Not Compatible (and newest with VGA support):
1. Seiki SC322TI 32" HDTV
2. Seiki SE26HQ04 26" HDTV

I bought a VGA to HDMI converter that works here in North America for $4.90. It converts and does not distort the image, 480p (no upscaling). Of my HDTVs that have VGA support but did not like the VGA signal, converting it to HDMI and using the HDMI port on the HDTV works great. You can't go wrong spending $5.00 USD and getting "anything", you could spend more money at a fast food joint!

Some tvs only accept pure 60hz but some vga boxes or cables provide something like 59.95hz thats the issue. I had sony bravia tv that said video signal is not supported then i just bought vga to HDMI converter and it helped.

I found that and I am pretty sure it would work, as component is a TV format and I just want it to pass through.
