It would probably be safer to try without the capacitor. still use the resistor to limit the current.

Or try a smaller value resistor, 300 ohm even 290 ohm would work okay.
Or try a slightly larger capacitance 1uf is what I use instead of .47uf.
I still want to test different combinations to see if any work better

it's still thinking.

I was wondering if OP has looked into either the C.H.I.P computer or the Onion omega. Of couse Dreampi isn't readily ported to those but I feel like those cheap, well-documented platform could provide a second base for the Dreampi, if Kazade allow the porting.

They both either have a base with 1, or 2 USB ports.

I feel like the project could get somewhere if one of decide to desing a PCB with alll we need on it (LVI, usb phone modem, etc). Could reduce the form factor even more.

I have a C.H.I.P. and it is horrible. The video doesn't work and customer service takes about 100 years to respond to anything. I was a Backer and it turned out to be an aggressive waste of peoples time. Also, It has on-board memory so an SD card cannot be inserted.

Omega looks like another C.H.I.P. scam to get people to buy the add-ons needed to even make it usable. These are both first glance opinions, I will look more into them when I have the time but for their price its not looking worth it.

I am currently looking at:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Device:==============Price Aprx======== On-board features:

Raspberry Pi Zero ====== $11.00 ========= HDMI
NanoPi NEO =========== $ 9.25 ========= Ethernet
OrangePi Zero ========= $ 9.00 ========= Ethernet, WiFi
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I already got the Raspberry Pi Dream Adapter running on Ethernet and WiFi. I will have an update on here soon about that with some pretty pictures. I just finished it last night. I soldered Wifi onto the board to save USB space. It runs great.

Getting Dreampi working with the NanoPi NEO and OrangePi Zero will be my priority as soon as I get them in the mail. It would be cool if dreampi runs on those without additional work done to the Dreampi program, since I no nothing about programming...

Raspberry Pi Zero Dream Adapter: Prototype II up and running.
It is a little bit nicer looking than the last one and has a few more features.

I have soldered WiFi directly onto the Pi Zero. So I basicly made a HubPiWi for 1/5th the original cost and size.
The line voltage Inducer is there, and alongside everything else is powered by a 3,000mAh DC Power Adapter.

I already have a layout for a better version that guts one of those hubs. AND I wont make the silly mistake of leaving out the cable that runs the SD card to the outside of the box... It is currently not easy to get to. Whoops.

I am also working on a Dream Adapter smaller than a VMU that plugs into the back of the Dreamcast for Wifi. It will have USB, and 3.5mm Composite ports to plug in a Keyboard to set up the Wifi passwords on a TV. This crazy Idea requires that I get Dreampi working on something other than the Raspberry Pi as soon as they come in the mail. And if it does go anywhere, it is never going to be cheap. Except for maybe Europe considering its size, and the shipping cost issues.

I've personally used the first Onion and it's really not that bad. It is not intended to be a Raspi Competitor, more like a online, easy arduino with a web IDE and a linux shell.

I'm receiving the Onion 2 pretty soon and I'll try to see if I can get some python code running.
