Wireless Dreamcast BBA?

Post by Scandinavian »

Would it be possible to send and receive signal from the BBA without a cable?
Are there some sort of antenna adapter you can put in the BBA output and on the router?

Would have been great since I happen to move my Dreamcast from room to room! Since Im online with my Dreamcat 95% of the time then it would be great to not have to drag the wire around the house...

Yeah, that's what it's for. You connect a cable from the wireless adapter to the Dreamcast and you can connect it to your wireless network.

Old topic, but it'll probably be good for reference. Besides, I think I recall Elmagico posting recently that he isn't connected for this reason...

Yes, the Netgear WNCE2001 works. Quite nicely, I might add. I ran into no issues whatsoever during my online play with pcwzrd today. I got mine refurb for just under $40. You could probably get it for cheaper off Amazon, but they don't ship to Canada, so I got mine off eBay. Mine came with a USB power cable as well as an adapter for a wall outlet, and a small ethernet cord. The refurb units include a 30 day warranty with 30 days of free email only support.

There are two means of installing the device: you can essentially quick connect on both the router and the adapter, or, if you're like Elmagico and me and you don't have access to your router, you can install it through your PC.

Installation guide:

I use Cisco-Linksys WET610N Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming and Video Adapter. It allows you to connect an ethernet device through 2.4GHz/5GHz WiFi. I use it on the 5GHz band because it has far less interference then 2.4GHz. It only has one ethernet port but you can simply hook a switch up to it for more ports and multiple devices.
