without xserver you don't have a graphical environment which means you have to use command line. where are you getting the drivers from? in ubuntu it can detect the drivers fore you. Go to administration or preferences I forget which one and choose hardware drivers. It should detect your graphics card and you can then enable it and restart your pc.

I got my drivers from the Nvidia website.
I will try that.

if you're going to install the driver "the hard way", you need to be in runlevel 3.
using drivers from repositories is the easiest way though.
Do you need to use a dialtone for Q3 and turn off blind dial to connect?
Is that the only one that needs it?
Code: Select all
sudo init 3

Quake 3 uses its own internet settings. There is just no option for it. Team xlink found a way to get it to without swapping but it wont work for zoom 3095. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2342

If your Zoom modem has a conexant chip set (Some do, some don't) the it would work.
