Hi Draven, i see your fight to connect. Rare that ubuntu dont "allow" that modem. That ubuntu is a virtual machine too?
Maybe you have to make some changes in options to work with usb devices in that virtual machine.

1. Which version of Ubuntu are you using?
2. Can you use Windows XP OS?
2. Can you use Windows XP OS?

Re: PSO v2 issue (PC-DC Server Windows 98)
Well, the header says win98, not Win7. Also, please refrain from getting upset. We are trying to help. I know WinXP is the part that brourke set up. This worked for me. The random notation and questions about ubuntu and other things are the hard part here to understand what you are asking. Notably, you are connecting, but then disconnecting, which appears that you are not having a problem with connecting. This leaves the end result - this is odd being you are connecting successfully, I never heard this one before.

Re: PSO v2 issue (PC-DC Server Windows 98)
At least it worked for you. When I tried to set up a PC-DC W98 server (using an old notebook, with integrated modem), it kept resetting the connection.
As for the spinning coloured rhombus things and the disconnect - it also happened to me, because I didn't forward the ports on my router (and before I got a Raspberry Pi, I was using a vmware method). Since you're not using a DreamPi, you need to forward the following UDP ports: 40975, 41231, 41487, and 41743

Haha, you were faster than me with your reply.
Try forwarding the UDP ports I posted above. It fixed the issues I had with PSO, before I started using DreamPi.
