Legitimate copy of PSOv2 NTSC-U cannot connect [SOLVED]

Hi there,

I have Dreampi set up and it does work. I've been able to connect to the Chu Chu Rocket server just fine. However, I've tried to connect to the PSOv2 server and it just won't connect. It dials, sends username & password, then it stalls for about a minute and it says there was a problem with the network connection or something. Anyone have this issue?

Yes, go to sylverant.net and download the patcher disc. PSO V2 US has to have the authentication patched. PSO V2 PAL works as-is.

For future reference, the message:

The line was disconnected due to network errors.

is code for:

PSO couldn't contact the (long dead) Hunter's License server.

You can redirect USv2 via DNS1 just like EUv2, but you can't get past this error without disabling the HL check. I'm not sure why Sega chose such a cryptic message, but maybe they didn't want people to know that there was a separate SSL connection to the HL server.
