PSO - Enhancement Pak and Ives Ver. 2 help

Post by spirit_light_speed »

Hi folks,

Fairly new to the DC, but I've been a PSO fan since the Gamecube's release. I've recently upgraded my DC PSO to version 2 and I've been online with the PI. I'm loving the experience.
I've heard of the 'Ives Version 2 upgrade and the enhancement pak'. I would absolutely love to get these rolling. Is it a simple matter of burning the files to a cdr and then booting up the DC?
Sorry if this has been asked before - if anyone could point me in the right direction to a faq/thread/set of instructions for upgrading these on the DC hardware, (or even the best set of the most current files to download) I would really appreciate it. I see alot of threads, etc. Would really like the most current versions and the best way to get these going here in 2020 on my Dreamcast Console!

Really appreciate the help!!!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! One last question -
Do the ver 2. AND the ep pack need to be installed or does the ep pak have everything needed (including ver 2) with one simple install?

Sorry, I guess I should rephrase that.
On the torrent download there are three folders. Do all three of the CDI files need to be copied to a single CDR for this to work? Or does the CDI from the enhancement pak on it's own have everything on it that's necessary to get the game playing?

Each folder has the whole game. A non-EP disc is included for people who want fast loading and auto connect without the EP.

Sorry. just want to clarify.

This three-pack includes;

PSOv1 - The original PSO release in the US
PSOv2 - The v2 release in the US
PSOv2 EP - As above but with longer loading times?

What does EP stand for? (It's not on here or the site). What would be the benefit of the longer load times? Are those to prevent disc drive read errors?

I think the EP version have its more difficult(?) but for loading times i think is fast from normal version (example characters load fast without gd drive works like crazy).
