Screwattack's Top 5 Launch Titles

1. Tetris (Gameboy)
2. Wii Sports
3. Super Mario Bros. (NES)
4. Halo (Xbox)
5. Super Mario 64

As you can see, no Dreamcast launch game made it to their top 5. Instead, three were given honorable mentions.

Terrible ranking.

1. Tetris: Only because it sold well
2. Wii Sports Same as tetris.
3. Super Mario Bros. Not even that great of a game imho.
4. no complaints
5. Well deserved

Those three DC games you listed are far better than the first three.

The first three are turds, nothing good about them.
I agree with the last 2.

My top 5:

1. Soul Calibur: 100% arcade game at your house
2. Halo (XBox): Connecting consoles for insane multiplayer; 2 player co-op too
3. Super Mario World (SNES): Colors, Sound, and a world to explore
4. Super Mario 64: First 3D game plus the introduction to the analog stick
5. Sonic Adventure: Speed, Colors, Music, Total Package!

My honorable mentions: Panzer Dragoon (Saturn) and Power Stone (Smash Bros in 3D)!
Keep dreaming.

will be the dissenting voice here...

i remember when the gameboy came out and everyone played tetris. nonstop. with the ability to link gameboys, that took playability up a notch and i can remember logging more hours with that than any other game.

you have to remember that accessible launch titles sell systems...ie. wii sports.

Tetris and Wii Sports shouldn't be allowed on that list.

They're only there because Nintendo shoved those games down our throat.

I mean, I already have 4 or 5 Tetris cartridges for GB and I didn't even try.

Same with Wii Sports. The game was in the bundle, whether you liked it or not.

Couple ideas so far in this thread: How do you judge a launch title? If they are bundled, do they still count?

Other criteria: innovation, replay, sales.

From my list above, I believe innovation is key.
