all the latest Half Life images are on DCISOZone as far as I know. I've tried a few of the halflife engine mods but never actually tried the reworked Half Life fully, I didn't notice many problems with Half Life on DC, except the odd freeze. Can anyone remind me if it worked with VGA?

Yeah, that is where I found like 8 listings for it, I d/l gold and blue but don't want what is best version to burn on cd-r, but I'll go with Jenkins Gold suggestion and dciso comments of Blue is great too suggestions.
