Inferior video output on VA0 DC's?

Post by CD AGES »

Hey, Been a while

Exclusively in regards to the system's 31Khz hi-res output thru VGA. Just recently aquired another US VA0 Model (of many throughout the years). Upon turning it on I was instantly reminded the signal artifacting (faint vertical lines across the screen) that these models tend to produce when outputting in VGA. Its particularly noticeable on stationary screens or any time there is predominant black or white picture onscreen. This isn't so much an issue (if at all) with VA1 and even the dreaded cheap VA2 model Dreamcast. What's exactly causing it? Is it a Video port or PSU issue on these models? Or is it the somewhat unique Motherboard in its entirety thats the issue?
