Hello everyone.

It has been a very long time and you all deserve a response.

Production was halted years ago due to both funds (a big part) and harassment / death threats that we received from folks across the internet.

We had an investor to allow us to open a studio, however at the last minute, they pulled and we were not able to get the studio. As a plan-B to gain funds, we were going to do a smaller release to gain revenue (Hence 'paniq'). We strongly did not believe in using Kickstarter to gain revenue and there are a few reasons for it.

1. Tahi is a *BIG* production and would require a large amount of revenue if it were to be a Dreamcast release which, Dreamcast being more niche than other mediums, getting to our goal would be difficult, if not impossible.

2. We watched kickstarter campaigns for games and we have seen how many have promised 'the world', changed dramatically and either released completely differently or not at all.

In Tahi, since it was so large and experimental (with the engine) we wanted to be able to have full creative control over the project and thus release it as an exclusive or cross-platform game.

Another major part that halted the production was actually the harassment and death threats that we had received in large amounts. People who did not believe in the game made it clearly audible that they hated it, hated us and wanted to physically do us harm over it. We received many emails, Facebook messages (and on our personal as well), and phone calls from people threatening us to release this game, or mentioning to us how much they hate us.

This game was a game made of love and art. There were many painstaking hours put into making Tahi and the Ionicon Engine to push it where it was. Although there were many supporters, the people who threatened us were far more loud and active about making the creator's lives a nightmare.

That is when production stopped, we realized that it was not worth continuing production of a game that would mean bankruptcy for us and continued psychological stress / police reports.

The creators have since moved on to other endeavors, many have moved on to work for other major game studios and animation studios.

Tahi's creator will always appreciate the undying love and support of all of those supporters and fans who helped Tahi move forward. Someday he would like to return to working on Tahi again when the time is right.

We thank you all who have supported us throughout the years, hopefully someday we may return.

That's a sad story man but I completely understand. I'm amazed the lengths some people will go to on the internet. The thought of threatening anybody with anything is beyond me.

In fairness, I always thought Tahi looked like an awfully ambitious project for our humble DC.
How evolved/complete was the engine? Could it be used to make other games?

Take care and have a good life and don't let the assholes ruin your passion for Dreamcast.

Yes a sad end... I think with their last video update (i cannot find it anywhere... anyone still have it?) they did show the game and an engine are real and most haters and unbelievers were gone.
I really hope you will be back someday and continue work at Tahi.

Unfortunately, ambitious projects for consoles that are out of the market (like Dreamcast) have very slim chances of realization. Ambitious means that real money is required and someone will be contributing mostly due to emotional reasons. A Kickstarter campaign most probably would fail in a case like this, so either a sponsor would have to provide (rich people ready to spend an amount of money for a new game in a console no longer produced are hard to find) or the team members would have to somehow possess enough resources to do the job themselves (probably even more difficult).

The thing about the threats is really surprising and sad.
