i dunno about bs but it its a long time yet before unlimited detail becomes a practical graphics engine/option, say about 5 years? So if the engine isn't even there yet what have they been doing for the past however many years its been?

There will never be unlimited graphics engine, it's impossible, it's like an unlimited power source.

You know guys i think they came wrong way, they started to plan, to draw on paper but as all we know dreamcast cannot handle everything, there is lack of 3d support in kos, i think when(?) they are going to try what they have on their minds implement on DC there will be problems.
say about 5 years?

Sort of.
the engine isn't even there yet

Yep man, they still didnt decided about the engine but what about the game itself ?! I remember in old posts they said it may take 2 cd so just imagine how much time it take to make a game.
Sorry for being so pessimistic. And i wonder why RETICON doesnt post here or anywhere else by himself, he had visited dc-talk last time Apr 17, 2011 ...

possibly, but then if you think about it, how long has unlimited detail been a concept? 2 years? so what does that mean? They've just been sat there since they started talking about this game, waiting for Unlimited detail to become viable? Or have they been lying and now they've heard about the unlimited detail and so as to provide some new updates they've said we're going to use this for our game, but its not even remotely ready for practical application yet, and whats happened to everything they've allegedly done BEFORE they decided to go with UD??

Of course they could be telling the truth but then I still find it hard to believe that they are going to wait for this technology to work. So basically in three years or more they haven't even decided on a graphics engine to use yet.... kinda strange no?

I want this project to happen as much as anyone but its just a little concerning to think they still haven't even got an in game video or any kind of proof that the game exists except about 5 hand drawn sketches... its been running a long time and that's really all they've got? I whole heartedly hope they have more and that it does happen because it would be amazing, unfortunately my experiences with consoles over the last 20 years has taught me not to keep my hopes up

on the other hand, there's that teaser on their site, would you make such a thing + a score if it was a hoax? (most of us aren't even capable of making such a thing)
if I want to screw with peoples heads I'd just made a cheap blog & not spend hours or even days on making a teaser with a soundtrack (I love that score btw)

I agree, I mean theres a lot of evidence to the contrary and I certainly hope that it IS indeed on its way but it just worries me that they are now apparently thinking about changing the engine before anything has even been shown apart from a bunch of cgi images and concept arts, its just a little concerning. But hey like I said I really hope it does get made and if/when it does I will be right there buying a copy!

Very early but running on real hardware.

cool, so that is why I'm wondering about the thing with unlimited detail, why do they suddenly mention that they are going to use that when they've already been using an engine before and the Unlimited Detail system isn't even ready yet? I just thought it was odd that they would consider using that engine
