Need advice to decide for my first PAL Shmup

Hello everyone,

My first thread is nothing but questions, sorry for that.

Since I'm trying to complete a PAL set, I'm wondering which PAL Shmup to start with.

Basically I do not own any DC Shmups but would like something colorful with nice sounds and gameplay.

Is there any particular game you guys would recommend as a first one?
Since I would spend an amount of Euro it should be a PAL game in order to work on my PAL set.

I'd say try Sturmwind, but that is - technically speaking - region free...

Yup, sturmwind is brilliant and gorgeous visually. And it has been recently re-released.
The ghost blade is good fun too imo.
Neo xyx is a damn good shmup too but there is a game breaking bug in one of the screen orientations. Its fine in other screen modes.
Gunlord is great too, not strictly a shmup but hey.

I just purchased Sturmwind, however I may not like the horizontal style. 35€ for the brand new game was just too good.
Even not PAL I will go for either Zero Gunner 2 or Under Defeat, both seem amazing.

Zero gunner 2 is definitely amazing. A fun, innovative shmup. I played it to death in the past. It is pricey nowadays though.
I'm glad I got my copy for cheap from play-asia many years ago.

Sturmwind rocks. Its exceedingly well balanced at least in normal mode. I completed it many times.

Yep, Triggerheart Exelica, Zero Gunner 2 and Under Defeat is on my March wish list

There are only 2 PAL shmups, Gun Bird 2 and Giga Wing so collecting them all won't be much of a challenge As mentioned above, it's worth looking into the Japanese shmups (e.g. Ikaruga, Zero Gunner 2, Psyvariar 2, Radirgy, Exzeal etc). Also Mars Matrix (US, JP) and Giga Wing 2 (US, JP) are interesting ones

Really want to purchase Zero Gunner 2 but seems impossible to find a very good / mint spine version for under 200€/$...
