question:

so this USB card arrived, gives me 5 more ports, excellent, super. so I go to install it and I'm befuddled, it says PCI but the slot I put it in doesn't seem to have the same configuration, for instance, this card its card that goes into the slot is split twice, but the pci port only has 1 dividing peg... needless to say it went in and worked and registered, its just odd as the port is bigger than the card part that went in the slot... any idea why that might be?

I took a few minutes to do some research and it looks like the key notch is related to what voltage the add-in card needs. 3.3 Volt add-in boards include a key notch in pin positions 12 and 13 to allow them to be plugged only into 3.3 Volt system connectors. Universal add-in boards include both key notches to allow them to be plugged into either 5 Volt or 3.3 Volt system connectors.

yeah, but I thought it was the motherboard that dictated whether the machine could use 64bit
