aaaah ok I knew it was something that determined what op sys you could have, so you can have 64bit OS on a board with 32bit PCI ports... interesting

Yes but remember we are talking about totally different things here, 32/64 bit PCI slots do not have any relation to 32/64 bit software.

ok, I didn't mean the software I just meant that I was surprised that a motherboard with a 64bit capable processor would have 32bit PCI slots... though I guess the 32bit slots are the more common and therefore still largely used?

hey bud, I want to install a PCI Express Parallel port into my desktop, you might be able to answer two questions for me first:

1: would this be ok for my pc/motherboard? I can see the bottom port is PCI E and it seems to be the same

2: if I build a windows98 virtual pc and have a parallel port will the vpc recognise the port and things that are connected to it?

1. Yeah as long as the card has Win 7 32/64 drivers.

2. What specific program are you wanting to use? LPT support may not be available.

well thankfully my motherboard/pc already has a parallel port

the thing I want to use is a Massive Memory Card Plus and it only works with win 95/98. it has software that you can use to store and sort your saves on your computer, but its HOPEFULLY all sorted now, I made a virtual machine with win98 and it does support/have access to the LPT port so HOPEFULLY it'll workout fine... I will let you all know

Check out FRAPS, you can record the video source directly instead of a camera recording whats on your screen.

http://www.fraps.com/

This is a vid I made with it:

I think you also have the convert the video into a compatible YouTube format, I couldn't get the sound working on mine though.

hey bud, I'm guessing if you download fraps free it doesn't capture longer than 30 seconds then huh?

Graphics Card : ATI Radeon 6450 1gb DDR3 with HDMI Hyper Memory Upto 2gb

eh.

my almost 5 years old radeon hd 4850 takes a dump on these shitty new cards... but don't worry, everyone (or almost everyone) makes a mistake when building a pc, it doesn't matter if you have the knowledge or not, but all these numbers can become confusing

hell, my low budget gaming pc eats anything you throw at it, with a nice framerate too.

Intel core 2 duo E7500 @ 2.93 GHz (stock)
4 GB ddr3 1333 Kingston memory (the cheapest one, stock)
radeon hd 4850 512mb (stock, except the cooler... had to accelerate the fucker up since this shit can become REALLY hot when playing)
Asus p5g41t-m lx-v2 (the weak point of my system, it can become a bottleneck if you don't have the right cpu)
160 GB hdd (LOL)
19" samsung syncmaster sa300 (LED, 1366x768 native, can force 1080p)
generic chinese piece of shit PSU that will blow off in no time...

runs everything in mid-high settings, except gta 4 (not enough video memory) and MAYBE not max payne 3 (which i haven't tried because of my low hdd space :/)

off topic: have any of you played sleeping dogs? the game is fucking AWESOME

don't take this personal, or even as an attack, but you don't seem to know shit. :)

hardware is one thing, software is another. 64-bit OS means it can address more than 3 GB of ram, and you will need a 64-bit capable processor in order to run it. You will also have the ability to run 64-bit designed software and drivers. But the PCI slots don't have anything to do with any of the above. Think of it as bananas and apples.

Which directly goes to video cards. The memory bandwith of the cards (64bit, 128bit, 256bit, 384bit, 512bit, etc...) have nothing to do with your processor, OS or even any other hardware, just to clarify and avoid more of these kind of questions :D

Tom's Hardware has a Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart which also helps when picking a new card. Also provides a great resource for determining how much performance is to be expected and how it compares to other cards.
