Summary: 2nd game in the Aerowings series. As far as im concerned, they are both equally great. In the first game you flew around through rings to collect points and then eventually unlock other planes. You could play free roaming mode where you flew around for fun, and you could do stunt mode. In stunt mode you completed various tricks and then moved up to harder ones.Aerowings Airstike 2 incorporates all those modes together and then some. The newley added dogfight mode is great. Which adds for some interesting twists to the game.
Graphics: The best visual experience you will get in the game is in the beginning movie. It swtiches back and forth from game footage to awesome, close to real life cinema. The overall framrate is great. No slowdowns or anythings. The terrain is typical for a combat flight simulator. Just pixilated ground and water. It looks very detailed from far away but when you get close it starts to looks bad. The buildings look fairly well. The detail of the planes is very good, and look exactly like the real life planes. Although they are not properly marked.
Sound: The sound of the engines are excellent. No corny, cheap, unreal, repetitive sounds here. The worst audio possible on the game has to be the machine guns (they sound like they are straight from gundam). They could be realistic, but im not sure. The missle explosions and propulsion sounds are perfect. The music is cool and catchy, as are in most Crave games. Pop type music, that sounds like it's meant for a dogfight, or some flight combat movie. Which is, right on.
Controls: The controls are simple and easy to figure out. Although, you will need to become familiar with them during the dogfight training. That way you can complete the training fast and head straight to the missions. The Jump pack (puru puru pack) works well when needed. As far as I know, the controls are basically the same as on Aerowings. But, there are added functions such as, the firing buttons. Dont forget, you'll need a VMU or MU to save with. Requires 10 blocks.
Features: -15 sweet planes to choose from
-Fighter Pilot Missions
-Tactical Challenge Mode
-Vs. Mode
-You can fly off aricraft carriers :)
Availibility: It may be hard to find this game in stores, espicially new. I got mine at a game store, used. This game in general is pretty hard to find. But, if you look hard enough at your local reatailers or at ebay.com you should be able to find it.
